Public Park and Recreation Trail Update:
Construction has begun at both the park and the recreation trail including grading, and construction of retaining walls. Park and Trail completion is expected this Fall 2023!
Completion of Trailhead and Open Space!
The District hosted a Grand Opening for the Trailhead on June 27, 2022. Staff, Board members, and the community were invited - as well as the Trojans Mountain Bike Team from Oak Ridge High School.
Project Description
Saratoga Estates, an Elliott Homes development, located just north of Highway 50 and east of Wilson Boulevard, has four (4) exciting amenities being developed. The project includes a trailhead, landscaped open space, a public park and a recreation trail.
The Saratoga Trailhead and Landscaped Open Space (Lot M) are completed. The Trailhead is located southern starting point connection for the Promontory Trail, which extends from Saratoga Estates to Promontory Community Park. The Trailhead is located off of Saratoga Way at Saratoga Estates Drive, and includes a small parking lot, shade structure, and bike fix-it station. The Trailhead connects to the Promontory Trail, which extends from Saratoga Way to Alexandra Drive (approximately 3 miles). The landscaped open space is located on the south side of Saratoga Way and includes a dry riverbed, trees, and drought tolerant landscape. The trailhead and open space were completed and opened in June 2022.
The Saratoga Public Park (Lot I Park Site) and Recreation Trail were issued for public bid in September and have not started construction. The future 2.1 acre Saratoga Public Park and 2,300 lineal foot Recreation Trail will be the final two amenities constructed. Saratoga Park is located on the NW corner of Saratoga Road and Wilson Way and is planned to include play areas for 2-5 and 5-12 age groups, inclusive play elements, shade structure, lighted parking lot, and a restroom. The Recreation Trail will provide access from Platt Circle, in Crescent Ridge, through Saratoga Estates and outlet to the Promontory Trail system. As noted above, there have been delays in permitting the construction work at the park since the contractor submitted plans. On January 12, 2023 the CSD Board reassigned the trail work to Hemington Landscape Services, and construction will begin as soon as scheduling and weather permits. Olympic Land Construction will remain the contractor for the park and will begin construction in the spring of 2023.For Project Information, click each link below:
