Project Description
Peter Bertelsen Memorial Park is the District’s first park, founded in 1962 and renamed in 1965 for the memory of Lieutenant Peter L. Bertelsen, of the El Dorado Hills Fire Department, who lost his life in the line of duty. The park encompasses 10.7 acres and is nestled in the Park Village along Arrowhead Drive and Redwood Lane. It’s is one of the largest village parks, and also features Deputy Jeff Mitchell Field, which was completed in fall of 2009, and is located next to Brooks Elementary School.
On May 6, 2021, the Pavilion structure, including picnic tables, benches and restrooms were destroyed by an act of arson. As a result, the park was approved for renovation on July 14, 2022 by the Board. Currently, a concept map is being designed; this design will require Board approval; Once approved, construction drawings will be developed followed by bids for construction; Depending on weather and County permitting, park construction is expected to start in the Spring/Summer of 2023.
