Basketball Players
Boys & Girls Winter Basketball
Grades: 1st - 8th

In the past, the Youth Winter Basketball League has served over 800 youth each season with nearly 30 sports leaders, 20+ basketball officials, and several joint-use agreements for access to gymnasiums in El Dorado Hills. Unfortunately, as we approach the upcoming basketball season, we are faced with reduced facility time from our joint-use agreements, lack of staff, and a potential official’s shortage. Please understand that the District continues to work through these challenges.

The good news is that the Recreation Department will still be able to operate its Youth Winter Basketball League, although it will be on a smaller scale than in previous years. A Youth Winter Basketball League interest list lottery will be open from Friday, October 15th at noon through Friday, October 29th at noon. Once the deadline passes, staff will randomly assign available coach and participant spaces via a lottery system.

Non-residents may be considered after residents have been selected and should still complete the lottery interest list form for their child/children during the two-week timeframe.

Teams will be formed from those players selected in the lottery based on the participants’ school/location. Once all desired age divisions are full, Resident Services will contact selected participants to collect registration fees during the first week of November.

Masks will be required for all players, coaches, officials, and spectators while inside an EDHSCD or school facility at all times. Attendance at games/practices by parents and relatives may be limited.

Due to the current situation, the District is not able to honor any special requests this season. Practices will be once a week Monday – Friday 5p – 8p beginning December 6th. Game times will be scheduled on Saturday between 8a – 8p beginning January 8th.
