Kid’s Beginning Kayaking
Ages 8 - 10
Kids love kayaking, taking to it almost
instantly, and for over 14 years these
classes have been a great way to harness
some of their boundless energy. Experienced
instructors make fun and water
safety/education their focus, teaching kids
through a variety of games and group
activities. Beginning classes are taught in
the safe, controlled environment of Lake
Natoma, where kids can explore special
hideaways like “Swampland” and”“Berry
Pond.” They are always thrilled by the
experience and leave the class wanting
more! All equipment is provided.

Have a great time exploring where only a
kayak (and our guides) can take you!
Designed as the first step in learning to
paddle touring and sea kayaks, beginners
learn about proper equipment selection
and fit, along with basic safety and
paddling techniques. After an initial skills
session, tour the lake to refine your skills.
All equipment is provided. Please bring a
snack or lunch.

Junior Beginning Kayaking
Ages 10 - 14
Are your kids bugging you for more
chances to go paddling after the excitement
of their first class? Classes are held
on the Lower American River, between
Sailor Bar and Rossmoor Bar. Participants
get a huge charge out of paddling
through “San Juan”, not to mention all
the other fun and exciting activities that
our guides come up with. A focus of the
class will be to further develop river
awareness and skills like eddy catching,
surfing, river reading and river safety.

Glide across the water of Lake Natoma
beneath the fascinating light and shadows
of the setting sun and rising moon.
Except for the sounds of animals and birds
settling down at twilight, we’ll have the
stillness of the lake to ourselves. Introductory
skills session and equipment provided.
